Pokémon Event Memories

January 2026:

Birmingham Regional

I was able to get back on the floor with Side Events again! I was a Scheduled Head Judge for the first time, and had a lot of fun making alternative format rulings!

2025: Lille Regional

Whoo boy. This was a rough one. I really struggled with the new registration system, and everyone was a little on edge. But we made it through, we launched some events, and the side events themselves were just as fun as usual.

September 2025: Frankfurt Regional

May 2025: Bologna Regional

I wasn't on Side Events for the first time in a while - I was getting an insight into the other end of the day on the Prize Wall. Aside from having some serious headaches and really struggling with the heat, things went relatively smoothly.

March 2025: Stockholm Regional

2025: EUIC

January 2025: Birmingham Regional

My first time as a Co-ordinator, and it went really well! I had a really great team who were all willing to chip in and were either familiar with the system or very willing to learn. All in all an event I was very happy with!

Apr 2024: EUIC

Team GG was back for this event, with one new member and our first local player making Day 2! I was on Side Events Registration, and I was really happy with how well the team came together. Highlights included the Spheal shrine, excellent vegan catering, earning an RPC promo, and the big Pikachu themself showing up to the staff party!

Jan 2024: Liverpool Regional

Team GG had its first outing as a proper team, and it was very rewarding seeing everyone in their team shirts together. Highlight of the weekend was running two raids simultaneously, one for some Juniors and parents, and one for a group of friends who wanted to play with older format cards.

Oct 2023: Lille Regional

This event had me on Side Events registration for the first time. It was definitely a different kind of stress - things moved very quickly and trying to balance making sure people got friendly and accurate service with the need to keep lines from forming was a challenge - but it was very enjoyable seeing the team come together. I even got to practice my French! I'm sure I made plenty of mistakes, but I think it helped communicate things so much more easily for the players.

2023: World Championships

2023: EUIC

2022: World Championships (London)

Play Labs was so good!

Mar 2022: Liverpool Regional

The first big event back after the Covid lockdown lifted, and I was judging Jr/Sr. This was a challenging event - I was out of practice and highly stressed - but was also the first experience I had on side events.

Jan 2020: Bochum Regional

My first big event as staff, and definitely a learning experience! I was a judge for the main event, and things generally went fairly smoothly. I got to practice handling translations, slow play, deck checks, and table judging, all things that I hadn't had a lot of chance to practice in my local tournaments. It really was the start of something wonderful.

Dec 2014: First TO

The first event I was ever the Tournament Organiser for was a Christmas tournament at my local game store. There were 10 attendees, and it was very fun and casual. It was the impetus to start the local League!
