Pokémon HeartGold

Game played on the Nintendo DS. Review will also apply to SoulSilver.

Introduction

It is going to be somewhat difficult to write this review without being biased. This game released in 2010, when I was in secondary school and just getting into the first peak of my interest in Pokémon. I wrote fanfiction about this game (unfortunately lost to time), I still have my original save file for this game, and I consider this game partially responsible for making me a Professor.

As is required for a review, however, I will do my best to be as fair and balanced as I can.

Story and Characters

Pokémon HeartGold is a remake of Pokémon Gold, and as such largely follows the same storyline. The player character (who can be a girl, unlike the original Pokémon Gold) is a budding trainer, who sets out from their home in New Bark Town on an adventure across the Johto region. Starting out, you are asked by Professor Elm to run an errand to meet Professor Oak, the last game's Professor.
